I thought a little and decided to read from that today because I don't want reading so many passages every day to become a chore. The title of the book is so appropriate.
If I could summarize quickly it's about how we focus on God and Jesus but many times forget the other third, the Holy Spirit and how he is working in our lives.
I wanted to try and blog as I read so I can write more stuff down instead of after when I forget some things I want to say.
I just opened up to my bookmark and the chapter title is called "Forget about His Will for your Life!" What possibly could this be about.
The opening quote,
"And to expose our hearts to truth and consistently refuse or neglect to obey the impulses it arouses is to stymie the motions of life within us and, if persisted in, to grieve the Holy Spirit into silence."
-A.W. Tozer
Within the first few pages he tosses out a challenge that I have to share! So many people get caught saying, "I wish I knew God's will in my life." When in fact God cares more about the momentary things that you do, not your 5 year plan. I can think of countless references in the Bible where this is apparent. Jesus said take up your nets and follow me! God told Abraham to get up and go and he did. God told Noah to build an ark and he did. They did as He said and they threw out that 5 year plan and just did it.
He calls out the people who say I'm trying to figure out what God wants me to do. His challenge is: instead of searching and praying for God's will in your life; pray for the Holy Spirit to lead your life now...today and you'll be led there.
After reading, my mind was blown and I am out of words. So I'll leave you with one quote.
"I want nothing more than to live in total surrender and abandonment to the Spirit every moment I have left on this earth."
Just imagine what the world would be like if Christians could whole heartedly say this. Better yet imagine if you and I could just say that for ourselves.
